Privacy Policy

Last updated September 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to Fluenta’s website at fluenta.so, the Fluenta mobile application, and related products and services (collectively, the “Services”). It does not apply to services or websites that we do not own or control.

1. Information we collect

We collect the information we need to run Fluenta, help you practice a language, and make the experience more useful over time. Depending on how you use the service, this may include:

  • Account information, such as your name, email address, authentication details, and profile information.
  • Learning information, such as your native and target languages, level, interests, goals, daily practice preference, lessons, vocabulary, corrections, and progress.
  • Conversation information, such as the messages, transcripts, feedback, and other content you choose to provide during practice.
  • Voice information, such as audio captured when you use voice practice. Fluenta uses this audio to process your conversation and provide the requested experience.
  • Device and usage information, such as device type, operating system, app version, language, approximate location derived from IP address, crash reports, and interactions with the service.
  • Purchase information, such as subscription status, product, transaction, and entitlement information. Payment details are handled by the relevant app store or payment provider.

We may also receive information from authentication, hosting, analytics, and payment providers when they act on our behalf or when you choose to connect an account through them.

2. How we use information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • To provide Fluenta. This includes creating and securing your account, remembering your learning preferences, delivering lessons and conversations, processing voice input, and keeping your progress available across sessions.
  • To personalize your practice. We use your goals, level, interests, activity, and feedback to make lessons, corrections, prompts, and conversation responses more relevant.
  • To operate and improve the service. We review usage patterns, reliability information, and feedback to fix problems, understand what helps people learn, and develop new features.
  • To communicate with you. We may send service messages about your account, security, purchases, updates, or support requests. We will not use these messages as a way to send promotional email without the choices and permissions required by applicable law.
  • To protect Fluenta and its users. We use information to prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, and activity that could harm the service or other people.
  • To meet legal obligations. We may use and retain information when necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

Where required by law, we rely on your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time, although withdrawal does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.

3. AI and service providers

Fluenta uses carefully selected service providers to operate the product. When you use conversation features, relevant text and conversation context may be sent to Cerebras so Fluenta can generate a response. Voice features may also use specialized speech processing providers to turn audio into a usable conversation and to return spoken responses.

These providers process information only for the services they provide to Fluenta, under contractual or other appropriate safeguards. We do not sell your conversations or voice recordings. We configure our AI providers so your content is not used by them to train their general-purpose models, except where a provider’s terms or a specific feature clearly says otherwise.

Other providers help us with authentication, hosting, databases, error monitoring, analytics, customer support, and subscription management. They receive only the information reasonably needed for their particular service.

4. Analytics and cookies

We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how Fluenta is used, measure reliability, and improve the app. Depending on your analytics choice, PostHog may receive a pseudonymous account identifier, device and app information, and events such as starting or completing a lesson, onboarding choices, and app interactions. We do not send your email address or full name to PostHog for these events, and we do not use this analytics data to read the content of your private conversations for advertising.

Analytics capture is enabled by default in the app for product, reliability, and crash diagnostics. You can opt out at any time in Settings. Turning analytics off stops future capture; it does not automatically erase information already received by PostHog. You can contact us to ask about deletion of analytics data associated with your account, subject to applicable law and our ability to identify it.

The Fluenta website may use essential cookies or similar technologies to keep pages working, remember preferences, and understand basic site performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the website works. Fluenta does not currently use your information for interest-based advertising across unrelated apps or websites.

5. When we share information

We share information only as needed to provide Fluenta, protect the service, or comply with the law. This may include sharing with:

  • Service providers that host, secure, analyze, support, or process parts of Fluenta on our behalf.
  • AI and speech-processing providers when needed to deliver a conversation or voice feature you requested.
  • App stores and subscription providers to process purchases, restore subscriptions, and confirm access to paid features.
  • Government authorities, courts, or other parties when we have a good-faith basis that disclosure is required or necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.
  • A successor or buyer if Fluenta is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information for purposes such as product analysis and service improvement. This information is no longer reasonably capable of identifying you.

6. Your choices and rights

You can review and update certain account and learning information from inside Fluenta. You can also choose whether to use voice practice, and you can stop providing audio by switching to text practice where that option is available.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information. You may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain to your local data protection authority. These rights are subject to applicable legal exceptions.

To make a privacy request, email us at help@fluenta.so. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We aim to respond within the time required by applicable law.

7. Account deletion

You may delete your Fluenta account from the Delete account option in Settings, or ask us to delete it by contacting help@fluenta.so. Some information may be retained when necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, billing, or dispute-resolution purposes. Information that has been irreversibly aggregated or de-identified may also remain in our systems.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide Fluenta, maintain your account and learning history, meet our legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by the type of information and why we collected it. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous where practical.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including access controls and security practices appropriate to the nature of the information. No online service, transmission, or storage system is completely secure. If you believe your account or interaction with Fluenta may be compromised, contact us promptly at help@fluenta.so.

10. International transfers

Fluenta and our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live, including the United States. Those countries may have data protection rules different from your own. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections recognized under applicable law.

11. Children’s privacy

Fluenta is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us athelp@fluenta.so so we can review and take appropriate action.

12. Third-party services

Fluenta may link to or work with services operated by other companies. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one. We encourage you to read those policies before providing information directly to a third party.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Fluenta changes or as legal requirements develop. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where required. Your continued use of Fluenta after an update means that you have read the revised policy.

14. Contact us

Fluenta is responsible for the processing described in this policy. If you have a question, privacy request, or concern about how we handle information, contact us at help@fluenta.so.
